Catalonia/Spain: the fallout from the referendum vote continued, with the Spanish government facilitating and pressuring large companies (banks, utilities, infrastructure) to move their legal domicile outside of Catalonia. Protests for and against were large. The EU stayed out of it, while France said it would not recognize an independent Catalonia. The formal declaration was delayed.

Iran/Nuclear Deal: Trump teased his worldwide audience with cryptic comments probably suggesting he will decertify the Iran deal. This would then go back to Congress for it to decide whether to reinstate sanctions or not. Reports suggested that Trump will designate the elite Iranian Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization – a move which would be retaliated against.
