One highly unfortunate side-effect of Brexit is the spectacle viewed around the world – MPs unwilling to make a group decision. As media attention has increased around tight votes many previously unknown politicians are basking in the TV lights. Regardless of any additional pressures the ego boosts encourage irrationality, publicity-seeking behaviour and a major weakening of the usual whipping system.
