Macron Arrives: the new French president was sworn in and got to work trying to strengthen the EU and create a viable candidate list for legislative elections. Bayrou, a centrist who backed him, claimed Macron reneged on a candidate deal. Macron’s former boss, Valls, claimed the socialist party was dead but was not accepted into En Marche as Edouard Philippe (centre-right) was appointed PM.
